KALhelp ist ein datenbank gestütztes Programm zur Erstellung von Windows 16- und 32-Bit Hilfedateien. Zusätzlich kann noch gedruckte Dokumentation (Buchform) aus der Datenbank erstellt werden. Das Prinzip beruht auf einem Thema mit Kapitel und einem oder mehreren Unterkapiteln, die sogenannte Topics.Zu jedem Topic lassen sich wiederum Stichworte frei zuordnen. Im Topicinhalt können Verweise auf Kapitel, Topics oder Internetadressen definiert werden,Grafiken (Bitmaps) eingebunden werden, HTML-Tags definiert werden. Die erstellte Windowshilfedateien zeigen die Kapitel und Topics, ein Stichwortverzeichnis, ein Glossar,alle Kapitel und Topics als Übersicht. Für Software-Entwickler besteht die möglichkeit MAP-Dateien einzulesen.KALHelp generiert automatisch Kapitel und Topics.
